Staying in Sync with God
Sun, 29 April 2012 14:37:49 By: Don Hedrick I recently had the privilege of attending a year long study of the book of Revelation. It was taught at Kingdom Life fellowship by the churchs' senior pastors and it took us through the book, chapter and verse. This was no dry lecture for an hour, this was interactive with lively discussions and often passionate debates followed by a detailed hand out and home study assignments. And while I loved it, the entire exercise could have been summed up in three little words, "our side wins!" Oswald Chambers said, " When we become simply a promoter or a defender of a particular belief, something within us dies. That is not believing God-it is only believing our belief about Him. Jesus said, ". . . unless you . . . become as little children . . ." (Matthew 18:3). When I was a child I did not ponder the status of my fathers employment or the culinary skills of my mother. I simply trusted and believed that they would provide a home for me and when I was hungry they would feed me. There was no doubt in this equation. I had no room for doubt because the evidence of their earthly providence was all around me. The walls of my home surrounded me and the food they provided nourished me. And there was love. That my friends illustrates the importance of staying in sync with God. When we surround ourselves with Him then He makes real for us the power of His love, the shelter that He gives and the Word in flesh to nourish our souls. Find a good bible believing church, join a life group, study Gods word and walk with Him every day. That's not religion, that's a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
