The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want … he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

The New King James Version of Psalm 23:3 reads: ‘He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.’ Be sure to step accurately into God’s footprints while you follow Him on your path of life this year. If you follow the Good Shepherd in the year which lies ahead, He Himself will guide you to follow the right footsteps. He will show you exactly where to step to avoid being snared and to reach the right destination eventually.

God not only guides you in the paths of righteousness, but He also promises to lead you by going ahead. In John 10:27 Jesus says: ‘My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow Me.’ Led by such a Shepherd you do not have to fear anything which lies ahead this year; not even ‘the valley of the shadow of death’ to which David refers in Psalm 23:4. Even then He will go ahead and lead you through the darkness until you reach the house of God safely, where you will be received as a guest of honour and be home forever.
