Hold Fast Your Confession

Hold Fast Your Confession
Hebrews 4:14 and 10:23 both tell us to hold
fast our confession of faith in Him. When we
hold fast to something, it indicates that something
or someone is trying to take it away
from us. Satan will try to steal our confession
by putting wrong thoughts in our mind, hoping
the thoughts will produce wrong words
that will come out of our mouth. The power
of life and death is in the tongue, and we eat
the fruit of our words, whether for life or
death (see Proverbs 18:21).
Satan will tell us that confessing the Word
does no good, that it changes nothing. He will
cause us to forget to do it or to feel lazy and
just not want to do it even though we know
we should. He will cause us to get weary of
doing it. Satan fights anything that will produce
good results in our lives.
To confess means “to say the same thing
as . . . to agree with or assent to.” We need to
say the same thing as God says and get into
agreement with Him so that His good plan for
our lives can come to pass.
First Timothy 6:12 instructs us to fight the
good fight of faith. We must fight battles and
press in to do what God tells us to do.
